About me

  My name is Jiří Piras - born Drhovský. 

I was born in South Bohemia, Czech Republic into a woodcarving family.

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by wood in various forms. After my studies and employment, when I worked as a lecturer and assistant in education, healthcare and social services and also performed for several years in an alternative marionette theater ensemble, I work with wood full-time.

In my workshop I specialize in joinery and furniture making. My customers are mainly owners of old or historical buildings who care about preserving the character of the building or its sensitive modernization. Then there is woodturning and woodcarving, especially handmade marionettes or sets for puppet and marionettes theaters.

I now live in Bohemian Forest, where I also continue the family tradition of making folk wooden toys.
